Today, Dilijan hosted a ground blessing ceremony for the construction of the first church in the town, marking the start of the project. The event was attended by Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AFFA Charity Foundation Gagik Adibekyan.
The church is being constructed by joint efforts of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Dilijan Mayor’s Office and Dilijan Development Foundation, founded and sponsored by the AFFA Charity Foundation and the RVVZ Family Foundation. The project benefactors are Maxim Atayants and Armen Karapetyan. The construction of the church is a part of Dilijan development project.
Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin the Second, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AFFA Charity Foundation Gagik Adibekyan, Co-founder of the RVVZ Family Foundation Ruben Vardanyan, Director of IDeA Foundation Edgar Manukyan, Director of Dilijan Development Foundation Artur Hakobyan, representatives of regional and municipal authorities, numerous guests and local residents took part in the solemn ceremony of ground-blessing. The ground-blessing was done by Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin the Second.
The church will be built on the right bank of the Aghstev river, on the area adjacent to the World War II memorial complex. The author of the project is a well-known architect Maxim Atayants from Saint Petersburg.
Храм будет центрально-купольным с двумя колокольнями, размещенными по обе стороны от купола, на двухскатной крыше. Церковь будет построена на площадке высотой в 4.5 m, под которой будут действовать территории общественного пользования.
The church will be central-domed with 2 belfries placed on both sides of the dome on gable roofs. The church will be perched on a 4.5-meter pedestal, which will house areas for public use. The total area of the church is 550 sq. m.
Design and estimate works are already in progress, while the construction is scheduled to start in April 2016.
