The leading publication specializing in the Russian commercial real estate market – CRE – has come out with an article on the expected completion in summer of 2014 of the first phase of the construction of Dilijan International School (DIS) in Armenia.
CREwrites: “The school is a large-scale philanthropy project whose donors are the family and associates of the businessman and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan. The project’s architecture was designed by the British specialist Tim Flynn. RD Group (part of RD Group) is acting as the general designer and general contractor for DIS.”
By September 2014 Dilijan International School will already open its doors to welcome its first 90 students. By 2023 their number will increase to 650. Notably, the school is a full member of United World Colleges, which allows it to accept students from more than 100 countries. The students who study at this school will have the opportunity to continue their education at the world’s leading universities.
PHASES OF CONSTRUCTION AT DIS
The project is being implemented in two phases. The first phase entails the construction of the main school building, sports and medical centers, the student housing, a multifunctional center, technical building, laboratory and other facilities. The second phase is expected to be completed in 2016, and it will include the creation of parks and fountains, the cafeteria building, student arts center and amphitheater as well as additional housing. The total area of the complex will amount to 60,000 square meters.
“At present the main structural components of the medical and sports centers, technical building and laboratory have been put up. The shell framework of the main building has been erected. On the school’s territory road and engineering infrastructure is being created from scratch,” CRE writes.
The volume of investment in the school’s capital construction is estimated at $150 million. Thanks to design optimization carried out by RD Group on project plans developed earlier, it was possible to economize capital expenditures and increase the useable area of the facility by more than 3000 square meters.
