Old Moscow Photo Exhibition in Romanov Dvor

Zur Liste der Nachrichten

On April 13, the Old Moscow Exhibition of historical pictures will be inaugurated in Business Centre Romanov Dvor sponsored by RD Group and Museum of Moscow.

The Old Moscow exhibition presents the antique photos of the legendary views of the capital, its streets and buildings highlighting the history of architecture. The pre-Revolutionary phototypes display the views of the Kremlin, Kitay-gorod, Zamoskvorechye, Varvarka, Nikolskaya, Lubyanka, Tverskaya and Mokhovaya.

The exposition demonstrated the selected photos from the unique albums of Nikolay Naidenov – the renowned Moscow businessman, publisher and local history expert. His works became the basis of Moscow history studies and serve as reference material to contemporary Moscow history students till the present day. It was Naidenov who, in 1877, initiated a broad-scale photographing of all Moscow’s surviving cathedrals, churches and monasteries displayed at the Old Moscow Exhibition.

Holding the exhibition in Business Centre Romanov Dvor is highly symbolic. The Centre is the model of implementing the idea of careful attitude toward the capital’s historical and architectural legacy and integration of modern buildings into the urban realm of the old Moscow.

Alina Saprykina, Director of Museum of Moscow: “Over many years, Museum of Moscow has been exploring the city, preserving its history and telling about its future. In the recent years, the museum has been increasingly reaching out and sponsoring exhibitions in the city on the new dynamic floors; and today, we are happy to present the Old Moscow photoproject in Romanov Dvor, at the very heart of the capital. We are certain that the project will catch not only the innate Muscovites’ interest, but also the interest of foreign guests who will be able to see how Moscow has changed during the last one hundred years and compare the photos from Naidenov’s albums to the city of today”.

Louisa Ulanovskaya, RD Group Marketing Director: “Business Centre Romanov Dvor is a modern cultural and educational space that became a centre of gravity for progressive, successful city dwellers caring for the history and culture of the capital. Cooperation with Museum of Moscow and inauguration of the Old Moscow Exhibition in the court of Business Centre Romanov Dvor highlights the importance for business to take part in the city projects”.
