RD Group acted as a partner in the publication of the new edition of a book by the renowned Danish urban planner and architect Jan Gehl – Moscow: Towards a Great City for People.
The new edition of Jan Gehl’s Moscow: Towards a Great City for People was presented at the official closing reception of the Moscow Urban Forum at the Romanov Dvor business center. The book was presented by acting Director of Genplan of Moscow Karima Nigmatulina, the study’s author Jan Gehl and Head of RD Group’s Representative Office Roman Tkachenko.
“In 2012-2013 Genplan of Moscow commissioned Gehl Architects, led by Jan Gehl, to do a study of the capital’s public spaces. The results of this research were first published in 2013. The book became so popular that today we are already presenting the second edition of Jan Gehl’s study Moscow: Towards a Great City for People,” said Karima Nigmatulina.
“I have done studies in many cities throughout the world – London, New York, Melbourne, Sidney… but nowhere have my ideas been brought to life as quickly as in Moscow,” Jan Gehl noted.
“It was a great honor for us to act as a partner in the republishing of Jan Gehl’s book Moscow: Towards a Great City for People. I hope that this will help all of us make this city even better yet,” commented Roman Tkachenko.
The new edition of the book includes a presentation of the pedestrian street Romanov Alley as a positive example of how public space can be organized. The general designer and general contractor for the new pedestrian street is RD Group (part of RD Group). The project’s investor is the Luxembourg company Moscow Construction and Development.
