Alexander Ustinov, Business Development Director for RD Management, spoke to the magazine Tenant Guide about eco-trends on the cleaning market.
Green cleaning is one of the criteria for certification of a property according to international green building standards, which is why interest in this service is on the rise today.
As Alexander Ustinov noted, a cleaning company which seeks to attain the green cleaning status must be certified to ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System).
Furthermore, the company must use certified green cleaning supplies. Also important is the rational use of water resources, including greywater and snow, as well as the absence of volatile organic compounds in the expendable materials which the company uses.
Green cleaning also entails paying significant attention to waste sorting and recycling. For example, waste bags must be made of biodegradable materials, and used glass, paper and plastics must be collected separately for recycling. “In Europe and America waste recycling actually provides a source of income for cleaning companies,” the expert noted.
