Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan awarded General Director of RD Group Oleg Zhukov and Project Manager for the UWC Dilijan College project Dmitry Letov for the construction of the international boarding school in the country.
On October 11, 2014, at the opening ceremony of the international boarding school UWC Dilijan College, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan presented state awards to participants of the project.
General Director of RD Group Oleg Zhukov received the Order of Friendship from the president. Project Manager for the UWC Dilijan College project Dmitry Letov was presented with the Medal of Appreciation of the Republic of Armenia.
In early September President Serzh Sargsyan awarded Gagik Adibekyan, President of RD Group, with the Order of Honor for establishment, reinforcement and development of friendship with Armenia. This award is bestowed on individuals for exceptional services to the republic.
RD GROUP’S ROLE
During the implementation of projects in Armenia, RD Group has introduced new technologies with regard both to the construction work and to the management of the facility.
RD Group performed three key roles in the project to develop the international boarding UWC Dilijan College: the asset management company RD became a co-investor in the project; the construction work was carried out by RD Group; and RD Management will fulfill the facility management role for the educational complex.
Construction of the boarding school began in 2012. By the summer of 2014 the construction and finishing work for the first phase of UWC Dilijan College was completed (37,000 square meters) and by September 3 lessons began at the school. Now RD Group is engaged in the construction of the second phase (32,000 square meters), which is planned for completion in 2017.
WHAT IS UWC DILIJAN COLLEGE
The international boarding school UWC Dilijan College in Armenia is a philanthropy project initiated and founded by the well-known businessman and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan together with his wife Veronika Zonabend. The construction of the school is being supported by the government of Armenia and personally by President Serzh Sargsyan. UWC Dilijan College was built according to the designs of a leading London architecture bureau – Tim Flynn Architects.
