Romanov Dvor Takes Part in Earth Hour

On 25 March, the Romanov Dvor business center took part in Earth Hour, an environmental initiative organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This year, a record number of countries participated.

This year's Earth Hour was the biggest mass-participation environmental event in history. For one hour, from 20:30 local time, famous landmarks all over the world went dark. The event aims to encourage environmental responsibility.

This is the second year running that the Romanov Dvor business center has supported Earth Hour: at the given time, the buildings in and around the complex turned off their external illuminations.

"The Romanov Dvor business center was Russia's first development certified according to the updated BREEAM In-Use International standard. Concern for the environment and building energy efficiency are important principles of RD Group's work. This is why Romanov Dvor is taking part in Earth Hour for the second year running," explained Roman Tkachenko, Head of RD Group's Representative Office in Russia.

This year, a record 184 countries took part in Earth Hour, which in Russia was held under the slogan "Change yourself, not the planet".

The event has been held in Russia every year since 2009. This year, 150 Russian cities — 50 percent more than last year — participated. In Moscow, the Kremlin, Red Square, St Basil's Cathedral and the GUM department store, as well as more than 1,500 other buildings, went dark for the hour.
