Donald Trump Plans to Build Skyscraper in Russia

Zur Liste der Nachrichten

The American billionaire Donald Trump intends to build a skyscraper in Russia – something similar the 58-story Trump Tower in New York, the businessman told Itar-Tass during his visit to Moscow for the final of the Miss Universe pageant.

Trump told the new agency that he has plans to establish a business in Russia, and he is holding talks with several Russian companies on the construction of the skyscraper. He did not however specify which companies were involved in the talks and what the projected investment volume might be.

One of the possible partners for Mr. Trump in Russia is Aras Agalarov’s Crocus Group. According to the newspaper Kommersant, the tower would most like appear as part of the second phase of Crocus City in the Moscow suburb Krasnogorsk, where Crocus Group has several parcels of land not far from the exhibition center. However, the project documentation and building permits have not been acquired for the planned skyscraper.

This is reportedly Donald Trump’s third attempt to start a business in Russia.

FOREIGN INVESTMENT

Moscow is of great interest to foreign investors not only for the construction of business centers but also for the creation of public spaces. One example is the Luxembourg company Moscow Construction and Development, which since 2012 has been implementing a project to create the first gastronomic street in the capital – Romanov Alley. The ground-level floors of buildings along the alley will host numerous cafes and restaurants: by the end of this year the openings are expected for the French coffeehouse Paul and the restaurant Dolmama, which will offer eastern and fusion cuisine.

“Romanov Alley is an analog of the renowned Grand Rue in Luxembourg, and following completion of construction it will become a worthy competitor. We are confident that the alley will be a splendid public space for Moscow: a place seeped in the unforgettable atmosphere of quaint European streets,” said Dominique Fontaine, head of Moscow Construction and Development.

The idea of the Luxembourg company is being brought to life by the Russian company RD Group (part of RD Group). The new street is situated 500 meters from the Kremlin – between Mokhovaya Street and Romanov Pereulok. The investor plans to complete construction in 2016.
