Yesterday evening the Romanov Dvor business center hosted a reception marking the official closing of the MIPIM 2014 real estate expo. The event was organized by RD Group and Kommersant Publishing House.

This is the second year in a row that the MIPIM closing ceremony has been held at Romanov Dvor, making this a new tradition for the commercial real estate market. This year the event was attended by 300 people: the top executives of development and investment firms, experts in urban planning and municipal development, and representatives of the Moscow Municipal Government.

The event included a roundtable at which market experts summed up the results of MIPIM 2014 and discussed how to ensure the effectiveness of the participation of representatives of business and government at next year’s MIPIM expo.

EXPERTS’ OPINIONS

Elizaveta Zyuzina, Director for International Projects for MAPIC, MIPIM and MIPIM Asia, noted that this year the exhibition was attended by 21,000 people, including more than 4500 investors. The forum hosted 383 stands representing a total of 7600 companies.

“In 2014 Russia, Brazil and Turkey were the guests of honor and widely presented their projects at the exhibition,” Zyuzina said. “In particular, the stand of the Ministry of Regional Development increased from 100 square meters last year to 1200 square meters this year, allowing 21 Russian regions to present their projects.” The expert also highlighted the stands of the Moscow Municipal Government and the Moscow Region Government.

Alexander Kolontai, Deputy Director of Genplan and a member of the jury for the MIPIM Awards, noted that for the first time in the 20 history of Russia’s participation at the exhibition, one of the winners of the competition was a Russian project – VTB Arena Park. He emphasized that many other Russian projects could have been in contention for the awards had it not been for their outright poor presentation.

James Corrigan, Managing Director for Merchant Banking at Sberbank CIB, stressed that this year MIPIM was a success for the Government of Moscow and the Ministry of Regional Development and Sberbank CIB. The latter signed several important agreements at the event.

Ilya Baibus, Business Development Director for RD Group, noted the great significance of MIPIM for Russian Developers as well as the need to hold meetings in Moscow to sum up the results the exhibition and plan for participation next year. “This is the reason why our company is acting as a partner with RD Group in holding the MIPIM closing ceremony at Romanov Dvor,” he explained.
