Romanov Dvor to Exhibit Scenic Sketches by Alexander Vasilyev

On December 21, the Art Gallery at Romanov Dvor launches a new exposition presented by the fashion expert Alexander Vasilyev and called Scenic Sketches.

This is a unique opportunity for theater lovers to not only meet the author, but also become familiar with the maestro’s particular manner.

The works of Alexander Vasilyev stand out for their vivid, eye-catching and recognizable style. The artist’s portfolio includes around 120 ballet and opera productions staged in the world’s best theaters. Some of his scenic sketches are available to visitors in Romanov Dvor.

The exhibition is open until January 14.

THE FASHIONH ISTORIAN

Alexander Vasilyev is a world-renowned scenic artist, interior designer, art expert and fashion historian. He was born on December 8, 1958 in Moscow to a famous theatrical family.

Alexander Vasilyev is a graduate of the Production Department of the Moscow Art Theatre School and worked as a costume designer with the Moscow Theater of Drama on Malaya Bronnaya. In 1982 he moved to Paris where he worked for the Théâtre du Rond-Point next to the Champs-Elysées, Studio de l'Opéra Bastille, Lucernaire, Cartoucherie, Festival d'Avignon, Ballet du Nord, Le Jeune Ballet de France and Opéra Royal de Versailles.

Alexander Vasilyev gives lectures in many colleges and universities around the globe as a visiting professor in Fashion History and Scenic Design. He owns one of the largest private collections of Russian costumes. Awarded with the S. P. Dyagilev Medal, the V. Nizhinsky Medal, the Order of Maecenas and the Russian Academy of Arts Gold Medal as a promoter of Russian Arts.
