The international school UWС Dilijan College has become a laureate of the IGRA Green Roof Leadership Awards in the category “Trendsetting Architecture”.
The aim of the IGRA Green Roof Leadership Awards is to draw the attention of architects and organizations to innovative ideas for green urban spaces. The awards are presented by the International Green Roof Association (IGRA).
The awards ceremony will take place on April 20, 2015, during the 4th International Green Roof Congress in Istanbul. RD Group acted as the general designer and general contractor for the construction of UWC Dilijan College. The architectural plans were developed by the British architecture bureau Tim Flynn Architects.
According to the jury for the awards, UWC Dilijan College perfectly demonstrates the wide variety of opportunities for the use of green roofs and green walls in terms of conservation of nature and environmental education.
At the start of the year UWC Dilijan College was certified according to BREEAM green building standards. The college earned a score of “Good”, which signifies good practices in the use of environmentally sound solutions throughout the project life cycle, and became Armenia’s first certified “green” building.
